About Us

Welcome to our adventures in growing, cooking and eating!  We are a couple enjoying the ever-growing diverse food scene Calgary has to offer and the comfort of eating a delicious home cooked meal using ingredients straight from our own garden.  In July 2014, we welcomed our baby girl and life has not been the same since (in the best way possible).  This blog was first started as a way to record our recipes and food pictures (refuse to use the word "food porn") but soon discovered sharing our posts with family and friends is so much more fun!

Both of us have grown up with food being central to our lives. Our Asian parents made sure we knew all about the importance of gathering around a table of food.  The average number of dishes at family gatherings usually approach the double digits.  While normal ten year olds grew up watching Power Rangers after school, Darrin drooled over the culinary stylings of James Barber (The Urban Peasant).  I, on the other hand, watched my mother produce the aforementioned dishes in under an hour, which were always "better than going out to a restaurant".

Needless to say, our love of food has permeated our lives.  The highlight of many of our days is coming home and enjoying a home-cooked meal.  Ok, I'm not going to lie- sometimes the highlight of my day is microwaving last night's leftovers at work.  I'll be craving it all morning, anticipating the satisfaction of that first bite...

We hope you find our blog posts helpful and at the very least, enjoyable to read.  We welcome any feedback, comments or questions- it makes us feel less lonely in the WWW.

  1. Hello,

I saw that you did a blog post on my favourite restaurant Niko's Bistro. I hope you don't mind but I used one of your calamari pictures for one of my blog posts. My husband and I are currently in Amsterdam so it's not possible for us to take our own photo. We did give you a photo credit. I hope that's OK. Check out our blog in the mean time, it's PaigeandPeppersAdventures.com. When we get back to yyc we are going to try your Chinese Braised Pork belly recipe. Cheers!
